Will the Apple Tablet be bigger than the iPhone or iPod?

As everyone eagerly anticipates the release of the Apple Tablet, one question is what impact will it have, especially compared to the level of success the iPhone and the iPod have had. Will the Tablet be a failed experiment or will it usher in a new age of digital print as well as easier access to videos, photos, etc.? I for one feel that the Tablet (or “Slate”) could be as big or bigger than the latest Apple offerings in the iPhone. As big as the cell phone market is, the Tablet market (at least for Apple) could be even bigger. Depending on its capabilities, the Tablet could replace a laptop, cell phone, and other media devices. For the business professional, it could be his/her only companion device. Because of the form factor (size), it will not be a replacement for the phone, but could provide a short term replacement (i.e., using detachable mics and earphones).
There are other tablet devices out there, but they pale in comparison to what the Apple Tablet will likely bring. I can make such a strong statement because my belief in Steve Jobs’ capabilities is that strong. With rumors that Jobs is focusing most of his attention these days on the Tablet, we’re sure to get the best device possible, both in terms of hardware sleekness to software ease-of-use. Jobs’ unwavering attention to detail and uncanny knowledge of consumer needs will help to unsure success of the device. And no other device will be able to claim this. For a time, I used to think Sony could do no wrong with their beautiful products, but they seem to have lost that magic touch.
So, I am eagerly awaiting the release of the Apple Tablet, Slate, iPad, or whatever it’s called. 2010 can’t get here fast enough.
